Owls acknowledged at Valke Awards
Boksburg’s junior rugby was recognised at the Valke Rugby Union's end-of-year function held at Prince George Park recently.
The Boksburg Rugby Club’s u-9 side received the evening’s very first award for winning and defending their league title after enjoying another dominant season.
Boksburg’s name was called up again shortly after as the club’s u-10 side was celebrated for winning their division – pointing to the club’s know-how when it comes to foundation rugby.
The night, however, belonged to the Vereeniging Rugby Club, which won every trophy on offer in the Peregrine League as well as the Merit Cup, awarded to the club which scored the most trophies.
The Springs Rugby Club also enjoyed big success, winning five awards in the junior club league.
The union’s top brass was present including President Jan Wiegand and SARU executive member Vivian Lottering.
