Zuma welcomes Women’s Month in Boksburg
South African President, Jacob Zuma, welcomed Women’s Month at the Birchwood Hotel during the opening session of the African Union International Conference on maternal, newborn and child health in Africa, on August 1.
President Zuma said despite of the Organisation for African Unity/AU celebrating its 50th anniversary, he emphasised how important the month is in the South African calendar as it is Women’s Month.
“On August 9, every year, we commemorate the march to the Union Buildings seat of government in Pretoria, against pass laws by 20 000 women in 1956.
“Thus, as we begin women’s month, we salute all South African women for their brave and illustrious contribution to the struggle for liberation,” he said.
“The timing of this historic International Conference on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health on the first day of women’s month is, thus, very appropriate and South Africa is honoured to co-host the conference together with the African Union Commission.”
Zuma said that he recognises the importance of women’s health as well as children’s health in the development of the African nations.

Zuma should have also mentioned and addressed the amount of racism that happens on the eastrand.
Sad to say, but the White people in boksburg still think they under the old government.
