Stolen vehicle recovered in Reiger Park

A stolen Volkswagen Polo using registration numbers similar to registration numbers of a genuine owner residing in Mpumalanga, was traced to Reiger Park, on August 1.

According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, a male suspect was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

“The rightful owner, who lives in Barberton, reported to authorities that she was baffled by receiving traffic fines for offences committed in Ekurhuleni where she has never visited using her vehicle,” he says.

After being on the lookout for a white Volkswagen Polo hatchback displaying the reported number plates for over two weeks, members from the EMPD spotted the vehicle at the intersection of Archie Jonas and Old Elsburg roads.

“A 25-year-old male driver was arrested and the vehicle taken to Reiger Park Police Station where a case of possession of a stolen vehicle has been opened against the suspect.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
