Soccer star needs aid to play in overseas tournament

SuperSport United attacker Shandre Campbell recently earned a selection that will see him showcase his talents in Spain for the second year running.

The Grade 5 Wit Deep Primary School learner booked his spot on the plane to Europe to feature against the likes of Real Madrid and the Old Lady of Juventus at the Mundialito Tournament after impressing during trials held by his club.

Campbell, 11, is pleading with the public for a financial injection into his trip’s planning to help make his appearance in Spain possible.

He’s scheduled to leave our shores for Barcelona on April 1, where he’ll be training with the Barcelona Football Club Academy before the tournament kicks off from April 8 until 16.

He starred in the Donosti Cup in Spain last year, where he netted nine goals after featuring in the Robin van Persie Tournament in 2015, as part of the South African All Stars team.

He also had the rare opportunity of rubbing shoulders with the likes of Emile Heskey and former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.

The Mundialito spectacle enters its 24th edition this year and is one of the more prestigious and highly rated youth tournaments. It attracts international teams and is used as a scouting opportunity by various European teams as well.

For more information, contact Campbell’s parents, Reshan and Clarissa, on 072 429 8997 and 082 719 1498 respectively. – @SabeloBoksburg
