Young boxer Truter in line to become best in his class
An ABU regional title 12-round bout will also be in the mix, featuring undefeated duo Mnqobi Mkhize and Ricardo Malajika as Golden Gloves pulls out all the stops to give sports lovers a last 2019 hurrah.

Boxing aficionados are in for a treat, literally and figuratively, with Golden Gloves’ upcoming year-end box-and-dine tournament dubbed ‘4 at War’ taking place at Emperors Palace, on November 30.
Action is scheduled to begin at 7.30pm.
The show borrows its name from its most anticipated fights, which will see four of the country’s top junior middleweight fighters battle it out in a knockout tournament to be crowned South Africa’s best junior middleweight pugilist.
In the first semi-final, Brandon Thysse will face-off against Roarke Knapp for the right to fight in the final, which will be staged at the same venue in March next year.
The other semi-final, which will be the penultimate fight of the evening, will see Boksburg’s Tristan Truter battle it out with former EFC star Boyd Allen.
Both fights will be 10 rounds.
The quartet involved in the tournament was selected according to the junior middleweight ratings. The match-ups were made via a roulette wheel.
There will also be a title attached to the knockout tournament, but details on the kind of title are unclear.
According to the organisers, the winner, come March, will also be awarded a specially made diamond ring worth around R20 000.
There will also be a third/ fourth place fight on the same evening of the March finale contested between the losers of the two semi-finals on November 30.
To ensure that there aren’t any draws for the knockout competition, two fight commissioners and one senior judge will be on stand-by to re-evaluate a fight in case the judges score it as a draw.
The cherry on top of the cake for 4 at War is the main bout, which pits SA light heavyweight champion Nicholas Radley and SA super middleweight champion Rowan Campbell in what promises to be a mouth-watering 10 round war.
