Karam crowned Gauteng middleweight champion

Jade Karam was crowned the new Gauteng middleweight champion after Wynand Mulder failed to respond to the bell for the sixth round at the Unleashed boxing tournament.

The event was held at Presley’s Nightclub on Thursday, April 6.

Karam survived a scare in the second round when Mulder went on a rampage with multiple blows.

After a grey period in the bout in rounds three and four where both pugilists could hardly land a punch, Karam gained momentum in the fifth before sending Mulder for an eight count with a combination of lefts and rights.

The banged up Mulder did not come out at the bell for the sixth round, resulting in Karam winning the vacant championship.

However, it was later revealed that the champion will have to relinquish the title as he is relocating to Ireland.
