Student constables increase police manpower in Boksburg

Nine student constables have been deployed to work at the Boksburg Police Station.

They have been assigned in a supportive role, helping the station to deal with the scourge of serious crimes plaguing the city.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Lieut Col Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, as part of their one-year of field training, the recruits started working at the police station this month, and will remain until February next year.

“Their deployment has increased manpower at our station and their presence has dramatically improved our services to the public,” said Ngobese.

The students constables are been utilised at the Customer Service Centre (CSC), where they are helping with opening cases, certifying documents and other services.

Ngobese said that, as a prerequisite for the job, the young cadets will later be deployed to work outside, with experienced senior members.

Supported by the experienced seniors, the students will also be carrying out crime prevention operations.

They will, subsequently, also be assigned to work with the detectives.

Once they have completed their training at the station, the students will then be assigned to work at their different police stations. -@FanieFLK
