Tommy Gun’s Monte Carlo fight postponed

Tommy Oosthuizen’s eagerly awaited return to the ring, against Jurgen Brahmer, in Monte Carlo, has been put off after a hand injury forced the German to withdraw.

The news has left Oosthuizen, who was going to headline the event with Brahmer, without an opponent; an outcome that has left Tommy’s trainer Harold Volbrecht frustrated.

“Tommy is ready, he’s in good shape and his weight is good, but now the fight has been called off, it will now probably take place in February,” said Volbrecht.

This was confirmed by Golden Gloves promoter Rodney Berman, who said that attempts to find a suitable opponent for the 27-year-old Oosthuizen had been unsuccessful.

However, the former IBO light heavyweight champion may yet get his chance to face-off against Brahmer (37), who has won a whopping 47 of his 49 professional fights, next year.

Oosthuizen’s last fight was in June, when he defeated New Zealand’s Simon Berridge on points, at Emperors Palace, to maintain his undefeated record. – @SabeloBoksburg
