Superbike star into top gear as campaign roars to life

Local superbike rider Brent Harren secured his first win of this year’s campaign as he crossed the finishing line on his Kawasaki ZX10 Flyer, at the Zwartkops Raceway, in Pretoria, recently.

The champ reigned supreme in his Superbike Class to complete a successful outing at the DEOD/Gas Motorsport Championships.

Harren began as the fastest rider during the weekend’s Superpole qualifying race and managed to maintain consistency through to race day.

He secured the pole position at the expense of South African champion and multiple Superpole holder Clinton Seller.

His number one qualifying position made him the first rider to oust Seller in over a year.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a great start in the main race and managed to stay in the lead for the first four laps before surrendering to Seller, who led for 10 laps.

The tense rivalry was made more interesting as Harren regained the lead from his experienced rival in the penultimate lap, and never looked back, to win by a photo finish.

Harren, who has recently been handed two bikes by Kawasaki, is competing as a privateer and his victory was made more impressive by the fact that he competed without any sponsorship, compared to his rivals who compete under sponsored and funded teams.

His next race is in Cape Town, on May 17.

Anyone interested in assisting with sponsoring Harren for his next event can contact his father Neil on 082 560 3684. – @SabeloBoksburg
