Ekurhuleni schools trials unearth top golf talent
The ERPM Golf Club paid host to the Ekurhuleni schools trials where a strong team of eight golfers was named on Monday, August 11.
The eight, who are tasked to represent the local region at the National Schools Championship in Alberton, are Walter Behr, Ruhan van Dijk, Tiaan Stoltz (all from Hoërskool Kempton Park); Rynhardt van Biljon, Jacques Oelofse (both Hoërskool Hugenote); Dean du Plessis (Hoërskool Jeugland); Donneo’ Catanho (Hoërskool Stoffberg) and Chris van Tonder (Boksburg High).
The day also saw the culmination of local schools leagues with Kempton Park High School, Benoni High and Heidelberg Volkskool walking away with top honours.
Benoni High was crowned champions of the 2014 Ekurhuleni A-league, with Heidelberg Volkskool and Kempton Park High topping their B and C leagues respectively.
The National Schools Championship will be held at the Reading Golf Club on October 9 and 10. -@SabeloBoksburg
