Owls put Pukke to the sword
Kaufela Boksburg produced their finest performance yet in the Valke Peregrine League with a 66-8 romp over Vaal Pukke at Prince George Park on Saturday, June 28.
The homeside were in need of an immediate response following their agonising loss against pace-setters Springs in the preceding week, and did so in emphatic fashion on their way to a bonus-point win.
The victory puts them on 21 points and keeps them in touch with second-placed G5 Metals Brakpan who are six points clear following their comfortable 31-7 win over Vaal Reefs.
Boksburg skipper, Dirk Bloem hailed his side’s performance, pointing to the cohesion between the backs and forwards as a key factor.
It was a good performance by the team in a game where it was difficult at times to stick to the game plan and keep our structures, he said.
“Our defence was great and our backline attacked well from quality ball they got from set-pieces,” concluded Bloem.
The Owls travel to the Bosman Stadium next with a crunch showdown with old foes Brakpan on Saturday, July 12. – @SabeloBoksburg
