Lamali KOs Chauke

Lodumo “9mm” Lamali left the crowd stunned when he knocked out Ephraim Chauke inside a minute in their bantamweight bout at Presley's Night Club on Thursday, June 26.

Lamali, 22, wasted little time after the bell as he unloaded with furious rights and lefts before delivering a clean blow that planted Chauke to the canvas.

Chauke, to his credit, refused to give up and got back to his feet, albeit gingerly. However, Lamali, smelling blood, and went in for the kill with a three-punch package to Chauke’s head – leaving referee Ben Ngcapayi with little choice but to stop the match.

The victory was Lamali’s second in as many professional bouts, with Chauke experiencing a rather forgettable debut.

“I see a bright future for the young man if he keeps his head on his shoulders,” says charismatic and iconic boxing trainer, Nick Durandt, who also trains Lamali.

“He’s definitely a future champion; he’s quick and carries power.

“I just need to build his record in order for him to get rated and, who knows, maybe the chance to fight for the nationals title can come quicker than expected,” concluded Durandt.
