Blaauw, Steyn win at PTC 2014 championships

Parkrand Tennis Complex’s (PTC) Theo Blaauw won the men’s single event as the club recently held its 2014 championships.

Blaauw’s female counterpart, Marina Steyn, won the ladies single title, and the club also saw record entries for this year’s tournament.

The tournament, which was played over seven weekends, saw over 170 matches played.

The competition also saw juniors competing against their senior counterparts in the open division where a couple of upsets were caused, which bodes well for the future of the tournament and the game.

“The committee congratulates and thanks all the participants for their enthusiasm, competitive spirit and good sportsmanship all the way through, and look forward to next year,” read a statement from the club.
