Roadworthiness top priority over Easter Weekend

With Easter around the corner, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) says it will be conducting intensified operations and heightened visibility patrols over the long weekend.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago, says they will conduct intensified operations on arterial routes and freeways to ensure that vehicles undertaking long and short trips are roadworthy.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has also announced that they will conduct free roadworthy tests on taxis and buses ahead of the Easter weekend.

“The free tests will be done at the Randburg, Randfontein, Wadeville, Boksburg, Kempton Park, Mabopane and Wattville testing stations on April 16 and 17,” says chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
