Armed robbers nabbed

Two armed robbers were caught by the Boksburg North SAPS on April 15, at 8.20am.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the men robbed a store at the corner of Rietfontein Road and Fifth Street.

“Two men entered the shop and one drew a firearm and the other a knife. The suspects forced three people in the shop into a backroom and tied them up using wire.”

Lieut Coetzer says that the men then took the cash from the register and ran away.

A member of the public chased them, which helped Sgt Robert Masetla and Const John Thubakgale to apprehend the suspects.

“The SAPS recovered the R900 cash and a .38 Revolver with the serial number filed off.

“The two suspects were interviewed and found that one had been arrested before and found guilty on the Arms and Ammunition Act,” she says.

The same suspect had also been found guilty on an assault charge in the same year, 2012, in Lenasia.

Both suspect come from Wattville Hostel in Benoni.
