R400 000 worth of mandrax confiscated

Members of the EMPD recently received information of a shipment of approximately 2 000 mandrax tablets worth about R400 000.

Supt Wilferd Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, says that the arrest took place on March 18, around 1am in Jet Park.

“Members of EMPD’s K9 Unit located a courier vehicle with the illicit package, and arrested a 46-year-old Namibian driver.

“The suspect claimed he was just a courier with instructions to transport the package from Boksburg and to deliver it in Namibia,” he says.

Charges of possession, dealing and distribution of narcotics were laid against the suspect at Boksburg North police station.

Due to the gravity of the case, the docket has been escalated to National Intelligence for further investigations.
