Sports day keeps prison staff in shape
The Boksburg prison recently held a sports day for prison officials, to ensure that they stay fit, healthy and in shape.
The event included soccer and netball.
The day serves as one of the prison’s regular physical activities, that play a substantial role in promoting a healthy lifestyle among officials.
Prizes were sponsored by the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation.
The department also donated soccer jerseys and other football kit to the prison’s soccer team.
The blue team, consisting of prison officials from Centre (A), won the football tournament by beating Centre B, consisting of admin staff.
The admin staff won the netball, by beating the team consisting of combined prison centres (A, B and C) 10-6.
