The day begun with a carnival parade, which saw thousands of performers in their traditional attires taking to the streets of Vosloorus and Katlehong, singing and dance for the crowd.

They shared the stage with traditional dance groups from all over Ekurhuleni and gospel comedian master Philani Mabanga, who is famously known as U Ntshebe.
