According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, 271 fines were issued to motorists for driving without their valid card driver’s licence in the past week.
Seven motor vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy and 115 fines were issued for lack of registration and licensing.
“Some 234 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 96 fines were issued for parking and stopping offences,” says Mokheseng.
He adds that three motorists were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
A further 104 pedestrians and motorists were stopped and searched in the CBD, industrial sites, suburbs and at informal settlements.
“We issued 63 fines to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP).”
There were 15 accidents in Boksburg, of which three resulted in serious injuries and the remainder in damages only.
