Gymnastic club dances flames around competitors

The “Dancing Flames” (Wild Flames Concordia Tumbling and Acrobatic Gymnastics Club from Boksburg) displayed a spectacular routine at the World Gym for Life Challenge, landing in second position.

The “Dancing Flames” competed in the second World Gym for Life Challenge that took place at the Cape Town International Convention Center, in Cape Town, from July 10 to 14.

The “Dancing Flames” are one of the leading acrobatic gymnastics groups in South Africa and the group range from ages six to 39.

The club’s routine combined the strength, flexibility and technical precision of acrobatic gymnastics with the grace and musicality of dance.

This dynamic group of top South African acrobatic gymnasts represented South Africa under the Gymnastics and Dance, large group (21 or more gymnasts) section.

The group edged out teams to the likes of Sweden, Mozambique, US, Argentina, Slovakia, Switzerland, Greece, Norway, Zimbabwe and the Republic of the Congo.

The competition was won by Austria and they were awarded the Bruno Grandi Trophy and crowned World Champions.

The “Dancing Flames” now set its sights on the 3rd World Gym for Life Challenge, which takes place in 2017, at the Oslofjord Convention Centre in the heart of Vestfold, near Oslo, Norway.
