Court news in brief

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Ilonga Kekana (25), appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, found guilty and sentenced on July 30, to R2 000 or four months imprisonment.

On February 25, 2010, the accused stole nappies to the value of R391.98 from Pick n Pay.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Moolman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Albert Dasi (19), from Ramaphosa, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on July 31, to nine months imprisonment.

On June 16, in Ramaphosa, the accused threw bricks and stones at Selina Dasi.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Moolman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Andile Hlatshwayo (23), appeared in court on a charge of theft out of a motor vehicle.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty on July 12, and sentenced on July 29, to R3 000 or nine months imprisonment.

On June 14, the accused stole a USB cable from a vehicle, in Dawn Park, belonging to Reggie Leklolwane.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Lebo Jacobs (22), from Kathlehong, appeared in court on charges of theft.

She pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on August 1, to three years imprisonment.

On January 29 the accused stole two roll on’s and three body lotions from Pick n Pay, and on May 11, the accused stole a pair of shoes from Mr Price.

She had previous convictions from 2006 and two from 2012.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Brendolyne Piedt (21) and Isabel Baantjies (23), from Ramaphosa appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

They pleaded not guilty on April 13, they were found guilty and sentenced on July 26, to 12 months and six months respectively.

On December 18, 2012, the two accused assaulted Rouve Ceaser by hitting her with a brick and kicking her.

Piedt had two previous convictions of assault from 2010.

Both were found unfit to possess a firearm.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Busi Mofokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* Sanele Zwane (24), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of house break-in to commit a crime unknown to the State.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty on July 11, and was sentenced on July 26, to 18 months imprisonment.

On June 28, the accused broke into and entered the home of Nolungephi Maseko.

Magistrate Hans Havenga presided over the matter and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Shadrick Maluleko and Amon Maluleko, from Villa Lisa, appeared in court on a charge of sexual assault.

They pleaded guilty, were found guilty and sentenced on August 2, to two years imprisonment suspended for five years.

On May 18 the two accused touched the breasts of Busisiwe Mekana.

Magistrate Phahla Mohlaka presided over the matter, and Mulunguwa appeared on behalf of the State.

* Mduduzi Mathonsi and Bongani Matau appeared in court on a charge of house break-in with the intent to steal.

They pleaded guilty, and were found guilty on July 18 and were sentenced on August 1, to fours years imprisonment.

On May 12, 2010, they broke into the home of Gary Thompson and stole a camera, two watches, a cigarette lighter, a laptop, a DVD player, chargers, clothes, perfumes and a bag.

Matau had a previous conviction of theft from 2010.

Magistrate Abel Shilubane presided over the matter, and Maria Olivier appeared on behalf of the State.
