The Boksburg North SAPS firearm licence office will from Monday, March 23, be working on an appointment system.
According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube, this is in light of the coronavirus social distance that has to be maintained as requested by the law.
“The community will no longer be allowed to stand in queues at the firearm application office as it has been viewed as creating a transmission possibility,” said Ramaube.
The Boksburg SAPS firearm registration centre (FRC) also needs to adhere to the policy of 50 people at one place at a time as that restriction has been imposed.
“It was also noticed during the past week that applicants bring their kids with them to the application office. It is advisable to refrain from doing that as well.
“Please bring your application on your appointment time by yourself for the safety of the kids as well as to limit the amount of none essential people at the police station,” Ramaube pointed out.
The appointments can be made telephonically on 082 331 0236 during office hours.
If an applicant wants to follow up on their applications , they may call the National Enquiry Line on 012 353 6111.
The office also requests that applicants ensure that their application forms are correctly filled in, and all supporting documents are certified (copies must be certified) to prevent applicants from re-book appointments if their application paperwork are wrong.
