Powerhouse Tuks demolish United 85-17
It’s been a campaign that has again tested United on all fronts and facets of rugby.
It’s rare that East Rand United find themselves as underdogs in club rugby context, but the afternoon of August 3 was one of those rare occasions against the might of the University of Pretoria (Tuks) in the capital city.
The two met in a Volcano Super Cup encounter in what was United’s pre-ultimate game of the competition.
The dominant hosts took the spoils with 85-17.
Versatile back Jackie Jonkers, a strong candidate for Player of the Season for United, scored one of the two consolation five-pointers for the Reiger Park outfit.
Christopher Juries scored the other try, with Cameron Rooi adding two conversions and a penalty.
