Brother and sister duo shred off-road raceways
Over and above the inroads their making in their young off-road racing careers, the duo has received sponsorship boosts from MX24 media, Dirt Nurse cleaning products and Day Night Services.
Woodlands International College siblings and off-road riders Kaydence (10) and Tyrel (6) Smith finished ninth and first respectively at the Capricorn Raceway in Polokwane during the recently held Inland Championship 2019.
Tyrel was the star of the day, considering it was his first race of the season.
The Grade One learner walked away with a first-place trophy following his convincing win in his 50cc class race. This arrived after recovering from a broken clavicle suffered in January 2018.
His sister, Kaydence, finished ninth overall in the 65cc class, which included a total of 15 riders.
With the minimum racing class for girls being the 125cc class, the Grade Five learner will have to wait until she is older to compete in the ladies class, but until then, she competes against all 65cc boy riders.
The win for the young man was not unfamiliar territory.
Tyrel won his first championship last year in the Smokies series (PW50cc class). He finished overall second in the Inland Championship 2018 on his Husky 50cc. He started racing in 2016.
Kaydence is also an ambassador for women in motorsport and works with ShredBetty and SAWMX in promoting women in motorsport.
Kaydence has dedicated her 2019 racing season to raising cancer awareness after losing her grandmother to cancer in January 2018.
