Fun day in the water helps endorse a healthier lifestyle

Umbani presented the clinic in association with Bubbly Glide Swim School.

The Umbani Aquatics Development Club, which is affiliated with Easterns Gauteng Aquatics, hosted a swimming clinic to highlight the importance of the sport at the Boksburg North swimming pool on March 2.

The event was about educating the community about different swimming codes to help increase swimming participation and endorse a healthier lifestyle.

It also served to bring awareness of the importance of the sport and its benefits, like career opportunities in swimming.

Aquatic events which took place included scuba diving, water polo, and even aqua aerobics, to name a few.

Umbani’s Babalwa Malogwe said: “Swimming is a vital skill that can save a life and prevent drowning. It is also recommended to help decrease stress and build strength.

“Competitive swimming helps a child become disciplined and competitive. Swimming is an enjoyable exercise that doesn’t put strain on the body. We encourage people to learn to swim to help save a life and improve their health.”

The club also offers swimming lessons.
