Karin shines bright with bronze medal at WFF Universe in Singapore.
Boshoff ranks this bronze medal as her biggest reward for her hard work. She only began competing in March.
Impala Park athlete Karin Boshoff rounded-off the podium when she finished third in her sport model 30+ class at the WFF Universe event recently held in Singapore.
“I actually felt like crying and jumping up-and-down, and laughing at the same time as I could not believe I made it this far, and also on an international stage,” she recalls.
“To stay motivated, I train with Madelein Botes for the past four years. We motivate and help each other. Madelein inspires me every day and pushes me to do better.
“Our coach is Rudolf Koen. He is also a pro athlete in the men’s extreme division. Without him I would have not made it this far as he is the drive behind myself and Madelein.
“My husband, Etshardt, is the biggest cheerleader behind the scenes and also keeps me away from the cookies and chocolates – so I really have a very awesome team and support system.
“What inspires me is to put God first in everything I do. He is my inspiration to be a better version of myself every day.”
Whatever Boshoff and Botes do to help and motivate each other is working like a charm, with the latter winning gold in her division.
Normally when teams or individuals don’t do well, their coaches are the scapegoat but the mentors, who do the hard work behind the scenes, hardly get the positive returns they deserve when things go well with teams and/or individuals.
So for the two ladies to bring back a gold and bronze medal between them, speaks for the work done by Koen.
She thanked everyone who supported her during the months building up to Singapore.
