Carrim crowned a world champion dancer

“I’m extremely proud. The moment blew me away completely.” - Kaamilah's mother Naadirah, who was in attendance in Blackpool.

Nikki Truter Dance Inspiration star dancer Kaamilah Carrim was recently crowned the u-16 champion at the World Freestyle Championships in England.

The freestyle dancer said: “I couldn’t believe it, I was very happy; this is my highest achievement, it’s the world title.

“It means the world to me and is a huge confidence builder.”

Carrim had to compete in a series of competitions during the course of the year in order to qualify to represent the country at the global tournament and finished top in all her qualifiers.

Her momentum spilled over to the Worlds, where she was crowned the queen of freestyle dancing.

She dedicates a lot of hours in the studio under the watchful eye of her trainer at Dance Inspiration, Nikki Truter.

Her dream to compete at the highest level was made possible by Kyle Richards and Michelle Volbrecht from Hammond Pole Attorneys, as well as friends, family and Fabric Obsession, who sponsored her performing costumes.

There’s no respite for the world champ, however, as qualifiers for next year’s world championships have already gotten underway with the second round scheduled to take place later this month.

The first round of qualification was held in March. The third round will be in August before provincials in October and SAs in November.

Perhaps as impressive as her global crowning is the big turn around she has made these past few months.

She completed her recovery from torn ankle ligaments in February, having suffered the serious injury in November last year.
