Crafts in the park – at night!

The first Crafts in the Park Christmas night market held on December 9 at the Bokkie Park in Parkdene was such a success that the stallholders want to do it again next year.

One of the organisers, Janine Richardson, said crafters had started preparing for the night market a month in advance and were really excited about it.

The market ran from 2pm to 8pm and the park was packed with visitors from early afternoon.

There were about 60 stalls, all offering something interesting and different for festive season shoppers.

Ever wondered what wood these are carved from? Interesting enough, wood from the Jacaranda tree, Munashe Kenias of Pretoria, revealed at the market.

“We had a wonderful turnout and there was a real buzz once the lights went on after dark,” said Janine.

She added that the food stalls enjoyed an excellent turnover with shoppers tucking into a bite to eat to the soothing sounds of jazz singer Stanley Eben.

“This was a first for the Bokkie Park and Crafts in the Park and we are ecstatic about the feedback.”
