Valke bring smiles to Igugulethu Children’s Home

The Valke paid a surprise visit to the Igugulethu Children’s Home in Boksburg North on December 6, much to the jubilation of the young ones.

The players from the East Rand team, led by former East Rand United captain and current Valke backline coach Alvandre Maart, interacted with the children and handed out Christmas party bags in an initiative to give back to the community.

“We are keen to get involved in the community in many different ways,” said Valke head coach Rudi Joubert.

“We try to do at least a dozen of these kinds of visits around the East Rand to give back to the community. We’ve visited schools and school events and other homes for example.”

Christmas arrived early for the children at the Igugulethu Children’s Home as rugby-playing Santas paid a visit.

The squad will be released to spend time with their families for the Christmas break before they report back for pre-season training on January 8.

Warm-up matches are expected to kick-off on February 24 with the season set for an April start.
