ERK juniors impress in KZN

KZN recently had their annual schools canoe polo competition with a very young team from Ekurhuleni Kayak Club (ERK) participating in the tournament.

While the team members’ ages ranged between 12 and 13 years, they participated in the u-16 division and did well considering the expected age disadvantage, finishing fourth out of eight positions.

The players were largely from Farramere Primary School in Benoni but did include Boksburg tandem Luke Barrable and Devon Lacy.

For youth interested in canoe polo, aka ‘water rugby’, Homestead Dam in Benoni will host open days on September 30, November 4 and December 2. Spectators are welcome.

ERK teams practice on Saturdays between 9am to 12pm. For more information, contact Chris de Bree on 079 659 5068. Email: cdebree@hotmail.com. – @SabeloBoksburg
