Undefeated Boksburg u-9s win Valke Junior League
The Boksburg Rugby Club’s u-9 side have been crowned Valke Junior League champions, after winning all their games this season.
The junior Owls bulldozed their way through their allotted 11 league games, emulating their feat of last year, when they also finished the season unbeaten.
“We’re very proud of the boys, all of them,” said their 38-year-old head coach, Duane Pretorius, who’s a rugby player himself and stars for the Boksburg Thunder Boys Golden Oldies rugby team as a loose-forward.
“Our team management is a great part of our success; team manager Marius Naude, backline coach Henk Smith and forwards coach JC Kruger have all done a fantastic job.
“We also drive the boys on three critical principles: discipline, respect for each other and their coaches, and communication with coaches, which includes listening.”
The majority of the team is made up of players from Laerskool Baanbreker, Laerskool Concordia, Laerskool Westwood, Laerskool Elspark and CBC.
Team management members Naude, Smith and Kruger are also players for the Golden Oldies rugby side, along with Pretorius. – @SabeloBoksburg
