Scrum-half Mitchell joins SA Bokkie team to Russia
Scrum-half Jason Mitchell has joined the SA Bokkie team touring Russia.
The national junior side flew out to Moscow on Sunday.
Mitchell, a student at Hoërskool Oosterlig, earned the prestigious selection following his outstanding performances at an inter-provincial tournament recently held in Kroonstad.
The selection highlights the halfback’s achievements in the past few months on and off the field. He was also part of a sevens tournament recently held in Brits where his side won four out of their six games. Mitchell was also recently chosen as one of his school’s prefects for the matric class of 2017.

“I thought I deserved it because I’ve been playing my heart out,” he said of his selection.
The tournament saw more than 16 teams and 300 players showcasing their skills under the watchful eyes of numerous scouts.
Mitchell, a member of Oosterlig’s first rugby side since last year as a Grade 10 pupil, is a specialist in his playing position but can also slot in at wing, like his role model Francois Hougaard.
He’s not just a versatile rugby player but a versatile sportsman too. Outside rugby, he also plays cricket, softball and is a sprinter, high and long-jumper in athletics.
The SA Bokkies’ stay at the world’s largest nation is expected to stretch a little over a week. – @SabeloBoksburg
