Selling of cupcakes help raise thousands in fight against cancer

Cupcakes of Hope hosted its fifth annual National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer at the East Rand Mall, on Saturday, September 26.

People from Boksburg and surrounding towns came in their numbers to join the fight against cancer, during the fun-filled event.

The initiative saw Cupcake volunteers selling about 5 500 cupcakes donated by members of the community, Spar, and Pick n Pay, among others.

Entertainers, face-painters and a children’s Pimp your Cupcake station were available on the day.

Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit organisation, with the mission to create awareness of the early warning signs of childhood cancer and supporting families who have been affected by childhood cancer by raising funds.

The event on Saturday was part of the organisation’s main fund-raiser which is held every September.

Other malls around the country also participated to raise funds to help children battling with cancer.

The national event is a community-driven project and an event aimed at bringing the whole community together for a good cause. -@FanieFLK
