Team Brotherhood flexes muscle power in strongman competition (Videos)
Team Brotherhood pipped team Asylum in the Brotherhood Strongman competition held at the K90 Centre in Boksburg on Saturday, June 25.
Brotherhood scored a total team total of 343.5 to Asylum’s 332.5 for the victory.
Each team sent their top eight athletes to display their raw human power and skill and all 16 gladiators did battle through different challenges – car deadlift, static hold, farmer’s walk, log press and seated car-pull.

Team Brotherhood also featured the reigning EFC heavyweight champion, Danie ‘Pitbull’ van Heerden.
In the individual awards, however, it was Asylum which swept up the honours, courtesy of Andre Sweeney, who topped in all but two challenges.
Sweeney set the quickest time in the farmer’s walk and car-pull, and also dominated in the log press.

His teammate, and probably the most impressive-looking athlete on the day, Johan Rudd, took top honours in the car deadlift.
Brotherhood’s Lawrence Da Silva, the sole winner in the individual accolades for his team, won the static hold round.
The day also featured other activities, including a 2.4kg steak-eating competition courtesy of Turn ‘n Tender Steakhouse, and a fashion show.
Fourteen-year-old JP Windt from Boksburg triumphed in the eating competition, beating men old enough to be his father.

Strongman overall individual awards: 1. Andre Sweeney – Asylum 2. Johan Rudd – Asylum 3. Jean van der Have – Brotherhood 4. Lawrence Da Silva – Brotherhood
