Harren secures third place finish in Motorsport Championships

Superbike star Brent Harren secured an overall third place in the DEOD/Gas Motorsport Championship Series.

This is after the 22-year-old finished second in both his heat races in the final race of the season, recently, in Durban.

Reigning South African champion Clinton Seller finished as the champion, while Matthew Scholtz settled for the runners-up spot.

“It (third place finish) wasn’t too bad,” said Harren.

“I broke my wrist and crashed out of two races throughout the series and ended with zero points in those races. When I suffered my first crash, I was in second position and, in my second crash, I was leading,” he said.

“My bike also broke down so there was a bit of bad luck there. At the end of the day, I finished third overall and that’s third in the country.”

Harren also took time to thank his sponsors, including Metal Centre, Kawasaki, Bike-Wise RD Racing, Odin Powersports, Arai, KBD Paint shop, Maroso Performance and Stealth Graphix.

With his superbike racing season done and dusted, Harren will next race in a friendly in Cape Town, in December.
