The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said that a human body deserves some kind of dignity and respect.
“The woman dropped dead this morning (June 5) and from 9am until noon, she has been placed on a pavement and covered with a blanket,” she said.
“It is unacceptable to just leave a dead body lying like that for such a long time.”
The Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, confirmed that a woman collapsed in front of the shops at El Ridge Corner.
She was allegedly waiting for the shop, where she works, to open.
“The medical personnel were called but she was declared dead on scene,” said Coetzer.
According to Coetzer, the procedure for the police is to cordon off the scene – therefore nothing is to be touched or moved.
“Every scene is treated as a crime scene. The police then contact the photographers and government mortuary.
“Only after the scene has been investigated and photographed, will the body be removed by the mortuary – this is procedure.
“The body was not placed on the pavement, she collapsed on the walkway. Nobody moved the body,” said Coetzer.
