This comes after a resident’s water meter was stolen on Tuesday, September 9.
Jannie Woest from Witfield recently discovered his water meter was missing.
“I have been living in this house for plus-minus 23 years, and this is the first time this has happened,” says Woest.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says the Woest’s water meter has been replaced, and that meters are typically targeted due to their perceived scrap metal value.
“The metro does replace the old brass meters as part of its meter replacement project and as part of general maintenance,” he explains.
He adds that such cases are criminal and should be reported to the SAPS. – @TumeloBoksburg
