Woman sexually assaulted in mall toilets

A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at the toilets of a local mall at about 5pm on Tuesday, August 26.

According to Boksburg North Police spokesperson Lieut Juantia Coetzer, the case has been handed over to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

“The complainant went to the toilets of the mall, where she was allegedly hit over the head with an unknown object. She was also cut on her private parts, and robbed of her possessions,” says Coetzer.

Coetzer says that there were no witnesses to this incident.

“The complainant received medical attention at a hospital, and the case is under investigation. No further details can be discussed as it will jeopardise the case.”

The centre manager Petra Foord confirms the alleged incident.

“All of the correct procedures were followed after the alleged incident took place. The police and an ambulance were called to the scene.

“Centre management assures customers and tenants alike that mall safety and security are, and will remain, a top priority.” – @TumeloBoksburg

  1. Is there any follow-up on this disturbing story, which I believe is from East Rand Mall? It has provoked some discussion on the Boksburg twon and heritage Facebook page, but the story has gone quiet.
