Sensei Madgwick wins gold in Zambia
Sunward Park’s Goju Karate Academy master Sensei Marius Madgwick flew the country’s flag high in Zambia, after claiming gold at the recent African Zone 6 Championships.
Madgwick and the rest of team South Africa were placed third in Namibia in the same tournament last year, but he was not to be denied the title this time around in Lusaka.
More than 300 entries were represented by six countries at the meeting, namely Zambia, South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Madgwick, who has recently also been awarded his national colours, moves on to represent the country at the Senior African Championships in Senegal, which will take place between August 14 and 16.
He now holds the Zone 6 and Commonwealth titles. – @SabeloBoksburg
