“If it goes on like this, I’m afraid I might get a huge bill in a couple of months,” says Gale van Heerden.
According to van Heerden, the contractor does take the meter readings for both her electricity and water usage every month, but for two consecutive months she only got charged for her electricity usage.
Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, says that interim charges are being levied in respect of instances where a meter reading could not be obtained.
“A meter reading of the water meter in question was obtained on July 9, and will be utilised to raise the debits during the billing of the July 2014 accounts.
“All interims levied in respect of water and sewerage since the previous water meter reading obtained on February 7, will then be reversed or credited.
“The July accounts will be due and payable on or before August 24,” concludes Gadebe. – @IschkeBoksburg
