According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the mother went to the police station after receiving an SMS that her child was kidnapped.
“A case of kidnapping was opened, and all the role-players were contacted and a search started for the boy,” says Lieut Coetzer.
She says that after a while a ransom amount of R2 000 was requested via SMS.
“The money was dropped at the bridge on Rondebult Road, Boksburg North. The child came to fetch the money and was apprehended.”
He was charged and reunited with his family.
