According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the man and his passenger were driving along Knights Street when two men got out of a Mercedes Benz and told them to get out of their vehicle.
“The suspects said that they do not want to shoot, and that they wanted their phones.
“They took one phone and jumped into the hijacked vehicle and drove off together with the Mercedes Benz,” says Lieut Coetzer.
She adds that the Mercedes Benz did not have any licence plates on.
“The Boksburg North Detectives followed up leads and information as soon as they received the docket and Capt Bongani Masimula, WO Vusi Tlemo, WO Robert Ngomane, Sgt Kenny Molefe and Sgt Evan Boesak, investigated the matter.”
She says they followed up leads, which lead them to a house in Windmill Park.
“They searched the house and found one .38 Special revolver hidden in the washing machine and a shotgun was found in the half open ceiling. They confiscated the firearms and continued their investigation.
“They then found the getaway vehicle in Voortrekker Street, Alberton.”
She adds that the investigation is still ongoing and that they are still looking for the hijacked vehicle.
