Sephaka named Springbok Women’s coach

Former Springbok prop and Reiger Park Secondary School student, Lawrence Sephaka, has been appointed as the new Springbok women’s head coach.

This is according to the SA Rugby Union (Saru).

The appointment comes ahead of the IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup in France from August 1 to 17.

Springbok women’s sevens coach Renfred Dazel was confirmed as assistant coach while former Springbok women’s captain Nomsebenzi Tsotsobe-Calata was named the new team manager.

Sephaka was initially named as a consultant to the Springbok women’s team before their first training camp in Cape Town in January, while Tsotsobe-Calata and Dazel also assisted at the camp in their respective roles.

Sephaka and his management team will work closely with Jacques Nienaber from the Saru Mobi-Unit, who will oversee the overall implementation of the Saru coaching blue print.

The former prop represented the Boks 24 times between 2001 and 2006.
