Kempton cruise past Boksburg
Bowler Johan Fourie’s 4/19 and Wesley Marshall’s unbeaten 31 behind the bat, helped Kempton Park cement their spot at the summit of the Premier League table as they secured a nine-wicket win over Boksburg at PG Park on Sunday, January 19.

Marshall shared a 55-run partnership with fellow opener Wynand Hefer (24) in 10 overs to steer the visitors to a comfortable run-chase, and achieve a target of 59.
The hosts, who took to the bat first in the top versus bottom fixture, failed to deal with Fourie’s bowling who tore through their batting order with numbers of four for 19 in seven overs, and were subsequently bowled out for a lowly 58.
Kempton won the pre-match toss and chose to field, a decision which suited them perfectly, as Boksburg’s batting order collapsed from the start.
Talismanic figures John Haywood (3), Michael Holtzhausen, Pierr van Blerk and Ruan du Plessis (all 0) set the tone for a disastrous showing behind the crease from the hosts.
JP van Staden’s added 16, his team’s highest score, was not enough to halt the plunge as they were all bowled out in 21 overs.
Kempton just required the partnership of Hefer and Marshall for the win, with Hefer getting dismissed with just one run required for victory.
Marshall stood in with Marius Lubbe after Hefer’s dismissal as the visitors secured victory in 10 overs.
The win cemented Kempton’s position on top of the log as they took full advantage of CBC Old Boys’ slip to their Old Boys counterparts, Springs.
