Boksburg Rugby Club make history at awards

The Boksburg Rugby Club (BRC) made history at a glamorous Valke end-of-year prizegiving event at Emperors Palace, when it was named the Valke Club of The Year for the first time in its 110 years of existence.

The gala evening unfolded on Friday, October 19.

This award follows a successful season, which saw three of the club’s five teams win their respective logs.

The second and third teams finished first in their leagues, while the u-21 lost against Brakpan in the final of the play-offs.

The first team finished second in their league and also went all the way to the final where they fell short against Brakpan.

BRC’s u/19 side finished fourth in their league.

The Valke League is contested by six clubs, namely Brakpan, Springs, Kempton, Benoni, Vaal Pukke and Boksburg.

To cap-off an unforgettable season for the club, Boksburg were also named amongst the 13 wild cards to possibly qualify for the 2014 Cell C Community Cup.
