E-toll courts may be introduced
Vusi Mona, spokesperson for Sanral, says that special e-toll courts may be introduced, where motorists who don’t pay their e-toll fees will appear.
“We are currently discussing the matter with the Department of Justice, but no final decision has been taken yet,” says Mona.
He adds that, ultimately, issues of courts and prosecution in this country fall within the purview of the Justice Department, which will make the final call on the matter, while Sanral builds and maintains roads.
“Where tolling has been implemented, Sanral’s role is to collect toll fees; where violations occur, the competent authorities take over,” Mona says.
