Workers have so far finished laying new underground stormwater pipes in Draai Street, and they have now moved to Rowe Street.
From there, they will continue to lay new stormwater pipes in other streets of the area.
Their work includes digging up the sides of the road and then lay the pipes in section.
In order to do this safely, they need a temporary road closure.
“As the construction progress, we apologises to residents for any inconvenience during these works, and appreciates the patience of residents,” says Thomas Sibuyi, contractor labour officer.
To ensure the safety of motorists and construction workers during this work, there will be sections of the construction zones with reduced speed limits.
Motorists are asked to follow all road signage, including reduced speed limits and to obey the directions of all traffic controllers.
The contractor will continue to update local residents with information about the construction.
“As construction progresses, members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions about the installation of the new storm water pipeline.”
Sibuyi promised that workers will be working as quickly as possible to complete the job.
