Ekurhuleni residents embrace online service

Over 100 000 Ekurhuleni ratepayers have subscribed to the metro’s online payment service, e-Siyakhokha.

The e-Siyakhokha electronic platform enables ratepayers access to their statements, payments and account history.

“The platform was launched in 2011 and has proven to be a huge success with ratepayers enjoying the simplicity and convenience of receiving and viewing their bills via the Internet,” says metro spokesperson, Sam Modiba.

“Each month, registered users receive an e-mail or sms advising them that their new statement is available.”

He explains that the system provides confirmation of whether payment matches the payment to the statement and retains this in history for future access or query – removing the challenges of reconciling manual payments.

The system is linked directly to new services from Standard Bank and Nedbank. And ratepayers who bank with these institutions are able to make payments directly using Internet banking.

To do this, ratepayers may simply add “Ekurhuleni” as a bill on the Internet banking sites.

“This ensures correct referencing and allocation of the payment whilst the eSiyakhokha system is immediately updated.

For more information and to register for the service, ratepayers can log onto www.e-siyakhokha.co.za.
