Smoking up the SA stage again

International British pop group, Smokie, will be gracing Carnival City’s stage on October 4 to 5.

Their latest arrival is part of their Take a Minute World Tour.

The band’s chart-topping hits like Living Next Door to Alice, Lay Back in the Arms of Someone, Mexican Girl, For a Few Dollars, Needles and Pins and If You Think You Know How to Love Me usually gets South Africans up on the dance floor, and will once again create local excitement.

Frans Swart, CEO of Lefra Productions and promoter of the SA tour, says he is very excited about Smokie visiting South Africa again.

“We organised two previous Smokie tours to South Africa a few years back. It was a sold out success with many extra shows that had to be scheduled,” he said.

“Smokie is one of those groups that understand how to entertain their audiences – from young to old.

“With all their internationally renowned hits and talent as a band, audiences around the world party with them.”

Their new CD, Take a Minute, has just been released internationally.

Terry Uttley, the founder member of Smokie, says that they cannot wait to come to South Africa.

“This is our favourite country, and it has always been a wonderful experience to come to South Africa. The people of South Africa like our music, and it is such a warm feeling to get such wonderful support,” he says.

“We have just recorded Take a Minute, and people around the world like our new material and songs, and we are very confident that South Africans will also like our new show.”
