Man found guilty for possession of stolen cables
The owner of a scrap yard arrested for being in possession of stolen copper cables.

The owner of a scrap yard, recently arrested for being in possession of stolen copper cables, was found guilty and sentenced to 10 months imprisonment, with a four-year suspension, on July 17.
The man was found on June 7, at the back of his scrap yard, burning copper cables, which were later identified as Telkom property.
According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the owner could not explain where he had found the cables.
“This verdict should serve as an example to all scrapmetal dealers who do not comply with the act or keep registers up to date.
“Scrap yard owners should also make sure that they do not buy stolen property,” says Coetzer.
